sheFAMigans

SheFAMigans

Yes I just combined the words shenanigans  and Family together. Why? Because my family came to visit me this weekend, that’s why (minus my sister who is coming in a month YAY.)

So here are the shefamigans we got into this weekend.
1. I took my family to work. No pictures included. No story included.

2. We went paddle boating in the tidal basin.
And by "we" I mean Bryce. Because I am a cripple again.
So I just relaxed while my brother just paddled me around the whole tidal basin. Life is good.

Jefferson Memorial

The folks
Then you know, we walked around the mall.

3. And went to the museum of natural history. There, my mom and I made necklaces out of our DNA.... it was weird. And we went to a 3D IMAX production called "The Greatest Wave." Which my family thought was going to be about waves, and fishes, but it was actually about surfers. So we got to see people talk about their injuries and catch some waves... really up close. So I guess that was cool, but I really wanted to see fishes and learn about their habitat, so it was slightly disappointing in that aspect.
Doesn't get much cooler than this folks.

4. We went to the Kennedy Center to watch a free showing of "Capital Reeds." A clarinet, oboe, and bassoon trio.

On top of the Kennedy Center.
5. We went the the National Art gallery.
You may THINK that the best thing about the National Art Gallery is the pictures and sculptures. But actually its the human conveyor belt that has a million gleeming lights covering it. Best. Thing. Ever.
6. We went to Mount Vernon. Which is George Washington's Home. It was a beautiful day, and a nice place. But the whole time I was there I just kept thinking about Oney Judge's story. THE REAL GEORGE WASHINGTON <-  I mean, I think George Washington was probably overall good guy but Mount Vernon really played him up. They had a video of Pat Sajack dressed up as a colonial man... so that was.... disturbing.
GW's home.

So.... Martha Washington and her granddaughters hung out with us for a while.
It was also weird. They were all "George Washington was such a good grandfather. The pictures of him don't capture that. hahahahahah" What? Ok.

So anyway. I hope this blog post has made you want to come visit me in DC.  BECAUSE I WANT YOU ALL TO COME!

Love,
Mariah
