New York Baby!

So last week Schraggy Pants asked me if I wanted to come up to New York and visit her this weekend. So of course my answer was “YES.” So I booked my ticket and crammed into a megabus for a 5 hour trip to New York on Friday night (don’t be too jealous of my Valentine’s day plans now.)
Here are some pictures of my Saturday!

BRUNCH!- At noon... because New Yorker's don't understand where the word "Brunch" comes from.

On a Boat!

On a Boat!
Me and the Lady.... Freedom Ya'll.

I'll call these the "steps of tourism." Because I don't understand why they are there.

On Sunday we tried to get cheap tickets to see “Book of Mormon” by entering the cheap ticket lottery. There were 24 seats available and over 100 people crammed near a door to the theater in the freezing cold. The ticket leader shouted out the winning names by saying where they were from first. Which is a horrible idea. Because when he said “and all the way from Kansas….” Allison and I started freaking out!  But it wasn’t our names. Someone else from Kansas won, how stupid is that! Really stupid. That’s the answer.

Times Square!

But it was fine, because we just walked around Times Square for a while and then headed over to Central Park. The whole time I couldn’t stop singing “I recall central park in fall, when you wore that dress, what a mess…” from that scene in Farris Bueller’s day Off in the parade- or from the actual song. (Although I just found out it’s “tore” not “wore”… that makes more sense.)

This was a family that sang SO BEAUTIFULLY!

Sledders!

Pretty gift shop!

Anyhousen, we walked around for a while, until for some reason I got it in my head that I wanted to go to the Bridge that Macaulay Culkin met the pigeon lady in Home Alone 2. (Disclaimer: my house just watched this movie in December, otherwise I would have never thought of it/ remembered anything about Home Alone 2.) But once this idea got in my head… it never left. So I googled the bridge and found out it was called “Gapstow Bridge”.  And we went on a long-ass journey to find this Bridge. Apparently it was pretty near where we entered the park, but the paths were so twisty and turny it was hard to find. The trek was reminiscent of the time Leah, her brother, and I tried to find the 500 Days of Summer bench; we walked for about an hour around Hollywood before realizing we had walked right past it at the very beginning.

Candid picture of me walking away from sign.

But Alas! After making many wrong turns, a detour to the bathroom (which was an adventure to find in itself), and a lady shouting at us that I couldn’t take a picture of the park map…. we found the bridge. And now I will give you a million pictures of me in front of the bridge; because you don’t spend two hours walking around a frozen park on a crazy-mans mission and then not take a million pictures of your accomplished goal.
Home Alone pose on the Home Alone Bridge.

When we were done with my photo shoot, I realized we shouldn’t have wasted so much time trying to find this bridge; instead, we should have spent our efforts trying to find the place where Buddy and his brother got into a snow ball fight with the mean kids in Elf. After sharing my concerns with Allison, she quickly lead me out of the park. And then I got distracted by street food! Yum!

I'm currently now back in the district. I hope you all had a great Presidents' Day weekend! Love from D.C.!

A New Year! But the same blog.

Welp, February has come, which means my life will hopefully become more exciting. Not that January wasn’t a blasty-blast, but it kind-of had a post-Christmas/ post-Kansas lag.

Wait! That’s not true, we got a snow day.
View from my Bedroom window at 9:30 AM  on the morning of the snow day. #WIN
We threw things at my fan until a paper airplane got stuck and slowed it down. WIND RESISTANCE. SCIENCE!

Are you a FAN of this picture? (Joke by Keith, Picture by me)
I did some touristy things, like going to the.... I forgot the name. But this place:

And I went to an art museum:

Look at dem famous pictures!

Oh! And someone who works in the same building as me got to have lunch with Obama. So I know all the dirty deets on him. Here you go:

1. He smells normal.

2. He chews nicotine gum.

3. He likes Hamburgers.

4. Sometimes when he talks to people he asks them what music they recommend and he puts it on a list. Then, one night a year, he downloads all of the music. Or something like that.

5. He exercises for one hour every morning.

So there you go, that’s all I got. I’m sure that was very interesting for you.

This weekend is Cara’s birthday weekend. So we are partying like it’s….. her birthday. We went to go to this place called “H street Country Club.” It’s not a country club. It’s also not a country-themed club. Very confusing. But it did have mini-golf. Which I didn't partake in. But I walked next to people as they played. So that’s something right?

Yesterday, to continue the birthday celebration we had brunch times at our house. It was quite wonderful. And then we went to a Greensky Bluegrass Concert at the 9:30 club! Whut Whut!!!

It was awesome, except that by the end my foot was completely numb from standing. Oh yea… back-story…. I’m in a stress fracture boot again.  I feel like I've spent half my adult life in a stress fracture boot. Stupid feet. But I can’t help myself, those boots just go with every outfit I have. So damn fashionable. And comfortable.  But really, I’m going a little stir crazy with my foot. And once the weather gets better I’m gonna wanna go running again. I hope it heals in time.

Notice Cara and MirMir in the background.
Also, there is apparently a Bar called Dodge City. I looked in the window. It doesn't look anything like Dodge. They really got it wrong. But I'm sure it's hard to capture the gloriousness which is Dodge in one bar.
